Cacao + Clay - Thursday, November 20th

$85.00

Cacao + Clay at Casa de Stela Studio

Date: Thursday, November 20th
Time: 6:00–8:00pm

Workshop: Cacao & Clay

Join us for a unique evening of storytelling and handcrafting! With Cacao & Clay, we’ll step into the rich history and magic of cacao - the sacred “food of the gods” from ancient Mesoamerica (commonly consumed today as chocolate!). We’ll begin with a cacao story-telling circle, exploring its cultural roots and stories, as well as usages and properties. As we sip and listen, we’ll weave our own reflections into this lineage of connection. The remainder of the evening will be spent carving your personal story and intention into a pair of clay cacao mugs hand thrown by Pamela Bercovici. You’ll leave with your handcrafted vessels and a deeper connection to the spirit of cacao. This workshop is welcome to everyone!

About the Instructor:

The spirit of cacao unveiled herself to Esme on her first visit to Guatemala in 2022, where the Mayan people have lived and worked with cacao for centuries. Esme began her personal journey and study of cacao through a living relationship: stories shared in circles, rhythms of the land, and conversations through feeling, memory, and connection. Her approach to cacao is rooted in reverence and reflection, with the spirit of cacao serving as a bridge between people, as well as the parts of ourselves. Through her gatherings, she invites participants to slow down, listen deeply, and connect with their hearts. Esme is a yoga instructor and meditation guide in Bend, OR.
